Cleveland Indians sign Michael Bourn to 4 year deal

Well, that’s surprising. It looks like, for the first time in recent memory, Scott Boras did not get one of his top clients a new contract worthy of his production. Michael Bourn has reportedly gotten a four year, 48 million dollar deal with the Indians, who also signed Nick Swisher to a four year deal. Bourn was looking for B.J. Upton money, and he’s been more productive than Upton of late. But his contract isn’t even close in average $ per year to Upton’s 15 M AAV. The deal also has vesting option. I have to say that this deal looks like a steal for Cleveland, although I didn’t think they’d want Bourn after trading for Drew Stubbs in the Shin-Soo-Choo deal. Stubbs now looks like a platoon play at most. This is what the Indians lineup should look like right now:
1 CF Michael Bourn
2 2B Jason Kipnis
3 SS Asdrubal Cabrera
4 RF Nick Swisher
5 C Carlos Santana
6 1B Mark Reynolds
7 LF Michael Brantley
8 3B Lonnie Chisenhall
9 DH Chris McGuiness

It isn’t great, but it is better than it was before the offseason.
